Hiking in the Southern Adirondacks of Fulton County
Hiking is not only a great way to exercise, its also fun! Fulton County is lucky enough to have several hiking trails in its backyard. So grab your hiking boots and get out there and enjoy the wilderness!
If you are looking for a short, fairly easy hike consider trying the Nine Corner Lake trail. This is one of the most popular trails in the region and gets a lot of foot traffic. Maybe, its because at the end of the approximately 1 mile long trail is a beautiful, quiet lake. Its perfect place to relax in the sun and enjoy some fresh air.
Are you interested in seeing breath-taking views? Visit Good Luck Lake and Good Luck Cliffs. The hike is about six miles round trip, but totally worth it. The hike begins with a fairly flat walk that leads to the sandy beach of the remote Good Luck Lake. From there the trail continues with a 1/2 mile uphill climb to the top of the Cliffs. The view is simply gorgeous – overlooking the Adirondack Mountains and in the distance Spectacle Lake.
If you are looking for a shorter hike with a beautiful view at the top, Panther Mountain would be a good bet. The trail is about 1.5 miles round trip. At the top you will find yourself looking at Spy Lake, Piseco Lake and the Silver Lake Wilderness – its stunning!
Want to climb a Fire Tower? Hike Kane Mountain! At the top of a half mile trail is a one of the Adirondack Park’s historic Fire Towers. From the viewing area of the tower you can see nine bodies of water!
There are several more trails to hike! Take Your Pick!
- Wille Marsh – Northville Lake Placid Trail
- Broomstick Lake – Chase Lake
- Potholers – Chimney Mountain
And that’s not all.
