The Johnstown Public Library is excited to offer a series of career/employment development workshops with workforce development specialist Marsha Lazarus. Ms. Lazarus brings thirty years of career readiness and workplace training experience to her workshops and one-on-one resume coaching. She recently left her position as the Director of Workforce Development with the Mental Health Association in N.Y.S. to devote herself full-time to career coaching and training. She is especially proud of her ability to assist individuals to more fully recognize their strengths, what excites them, and those positions that match these qualities/values.

Marsha Lazarus will be offering public workshops and one-on-one resume assistance at the library on the following dates: Saturday, December 8, Thursday January 10, Saturday, February 9, and Thursday, March 7. A special cross country ski program for women, taught by women. From 9:30am – 2:30pm beginner and intermediate level female skiers age 18+, grouped by ability, will receive instruction in classic technique. Enjoy lunch with an equipment & clothing discussion, participate in a social group ski and enjoy a group skills wrap-up at the end of the day. The program is led by Lapland Lake’s PSIA-certified instructors. Cost for the five-hour program is $60 which includes facility use pass, lunch and equipment discount coupon. These popular, guided tours start out at with a bowl of chili and a side of cornbread at our Kuuma Feeding Station on the 2nd floor of the main lodge building. Then strap on your snowshoes (also available for rent) and head out with our guides on a memorable moonlight tour, stopping at a lakeside campfire for a snack and hot beverage. 5:45pm to approx. 9pm. Tour leaves the lodge building at 6:30pm. Please arrive a few minutes early if renting snowshoes.

Cost for the tour is $39.00 ($5.00 extra if renting snowshoes). Ages 18+, please. Space is limited; reservations are a must! Headlamps are strongly recommended. We have a limited number to loan on a first-come, first-served basis. Register online through our website or by phone.

Snowmobile Drag Racing is back at Royal Mountain for the 2018-2019 season. Royal is excited to host 3 races this season and the dates are December 8th, January 26th, and March 9th. Classes, rules, and running order will be posted on the events page along with the Royal Mountain website. Questions on the rules or classes should be directed to the Renegade Racing or Royal Mountain Ski Area. Royal and Renegade Racing are teamed again for another successful season of snowmobile racing.
