Micropolis Cooperative will hold a “Meet the Artists” reception at its Gloversville gallery on Friday, March 15 from 5-7pm.  Marion

  1. Leap of Niskayuna will be the featured artist.


Marion, a retired art teacher, studied painting, silkscreening and drawing while earning her education degrees at the

College of St. Rose.

“I draw inspiration from nature and everyday objects that I depict in a style that is all my own,” stated Marion.  “The experience I gained from teaching in urban, suburban and rural districts showed me firsthand the inspirational power of art education. It also reinforced the idea of how important art is in a person’s development.”

Currently her primary medium is gouache (opaque watercolor). A selection of her colorful, intricate paintings will be a part of the show opening at Micropolis.

Paintings, drawings, pastels, photographs, fiber art, batik, mixed media, woodwork, glass, digital art, jewelry, pottery, woodland assemblages and fine art cards by

Micropolis artists will also be on display.

The show, which is free and open to the public, runs through April

at Micropolis, 30 N. Main St., Gloversville. The gallery is located inside Mohawk Harvest Cooperative Market and is open seven days a week. (MON-FRI /8AM-6PM  — SAT / 8AM-5PM  —  SUN
