Get your Irish an afternoon chock full of Celtic fun and a free Irish stew dinner!

The event will feature presentations by two Irish Dance troupes, the Me Rince Dancers of Dance Me in Glenville, and the Bethlehem Traditional School of Irish Dance in Slingerlands and a Celtic craft. An audience-participation telling of “Stone Irish Stew,” an adaptation of the morality tale, “Stone Soup,” and a free stew dinner will round out the evening.

Story participants will play the parts of Irish villagers who assist a hungry lass in creating a magic stew ample enough to feed the community. Those attending are asked to bring a carrot, onion, cabbage or potato to contribute to the stew, which will be cooked in the church kitchen and served at the Celtebration from 5-6 p.m.

Donations of Irish soda bread, crusty bread or butter to accompany the stew would be appreciated. All leftovers will be donated to the North Main Street United Methodist Church’s Monday Free Lunch Program.

Reservations are highly recommended by calling the church office at 518-725-7323 with a contact name, telephone number and the number of people in your party. The event is free to the public, but monetary donations are gratefully accepted to help defray the dancers’ costs and support their programming.

Please call Cheryl Bielli at 518-725-6130 for more information on donating items needed for the stew or to help with Irish background music.
