Ace Vaughn Airport
Go east on Co. Hwy. 107 from downtown Johnstown. Cross St. Rt. 30A. Turn left on to North East Ave. Proceed just past the intersection of Prindle and North East Aves. Marker is located on the right side.
Marker is placed adjacent to the location where this early airport served all the planes in this vicinity. This was the largest airport in Fulton County until creation of the present Fulton County Airport. Vaughn’s love of flying inspired many other to take up the hobby. Air shows also took place there. Presently the site of Maple Knolls apartment complex. Note – this is a double-sided marker with different information on each side.
