  • 5:00:pmCabin Fever Dinner Dance at The Sport Island Pub featuring Johnny & The Triumphs

In the middle of the 20th century a new music came into being. It was a fusion of pop, rhythm and blues and country. It cut across race and class, city and country. No body owned it or controlled it then. They called it rock and roll and music hasn’t been the same since. Johnny and The Triumphs make this kind of music: rockabilly, rhythm and blues and old time rock and roll. They make music to dance to. They are not an imitation 50s band. They are much more the real thing. Without pretense Johnny and the Triumphs capture the feel and spirit and drive of those early years.

Fulton County in cooperation with the Village of Northville is planning a 3 day Olympic-style kickoff event to recognize National Trails Day and the NPT 100 Celebration, May 31 through June 2, 2024. Hikers, visitors and trail workers can expect full community support educating the public on the NPT Trail and Northville’s iconic, historic role.

The village, merchants, clubs, organizations and Northville Central School will be participating. Northville’s Waterfront Park, where the NPT Trail Arch created by artisan woodworker William Coffey, will host vendors, food, entertainment and information. A trolley will bring visitors throughout the village to various participating locations.

Artisan William Coffey is creating a centennial plaque to be added to the arch. He is also creating a commemorative walking stick that will be ceremonially handed off to Hamilton County at the weekends closing ceremonies on its trek to Lake Placid. It is our goal to make this end of the NPT trail very special for the volunteers as well.

Northville’s celebration will be fun, informative and educational for hikers and visitors alike. We take great pride in being such an integral part of this Adirondack history. We hope our celebration will encourage more hikes on the NPT Trail as well as other trails in our area!

OPENING CEREMONY – Friday, May 31, 6 pm at Northville’s Waterfront Park entrance and NPT Arch

Saturday, June 1 – National Trails Day village-wide celebration starting at 9 am, vendors, storytellers, activities, trolley… culminating with live music in Northville Waterfront Park from 6 to 8 pm

CLOSING CEREMONY – 1 pm at Northville Waterfront Park, ceremonial passing of the ADK Walking Stick to Hamilton County to continue on the trail.

  • ThursdayAug 1st 12:00:amNYS Hall of Fame 12U Tournament at Parkhurst Field
As pitchers and catchers report (on my birthday) it makes everything seem brighter, more optimistic. I await the new season with renewed affection for the game. Soon the youngsters will be practicing for little league.
Working with Dave Karpinski of Parkhurst Field, directly across the street from the NYS New York State Baseball Hall of Fame, we will be hosting 4 tournaments this August , ages 10-12. If you have a team that you would like to enter, contact Dave or myself.
Its similar to the COOPERSTOWN DREAMS PARK experience.
Its all bout the kids. Lets make memories for them. Parkhurst Field is beautiful. Its like a Major League Park for Little Leaguers.
Bringing baseball to youngsters, teaching them the love of the game is one of the best gifts you can give a child. Its an experience they will always treasure.
