This two-hour workshop will introduce guitar players to a variety of lead and backup techniques used in county, folk and bluegrass styles. Instructor Bill Ackerbauer will walk students through several traditional and classic songs from the Americana repertoire. Topics will include alternating-bass backup, aka the “boom-chick” lick, bass runs in common keys, Carter-style back up and lead, fiddle tunes and melodic solos.
The workshop is designed for beginning and intermediate guitar players. Participants should already know how to play a few songs and be comfortable playing common first-position chords. Students must bring their own guitars. The cost is $30 those who pre-register or $40 for walk-ins. Visit conta.cc/1XYqe6i to sign up online.
