The Mayfield Historical Society will hold its annual Summer Concert and Ice Cream Social on Thursday, July 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Rice Homestead, 328 Riceville Rd., Mayfield.
The concert will feature “The Saints Jazz Quintet Plus One.” “The Saints” play easy listening swing, Dixieland, and standard ballads. This group has been described as playing the best American Jazz music around, adapted to the music of the 1930s, 40s, and 50s. The Saints have played at such venues as the Otesaga Hotel in Cooperstown, NY, and the Walton Jazz Festival. The Homestead will be open for free tours. Ice cream, choice of cake, and a beverage will be available with a donation of $3 per adult and $2 for children under 8. Attendees are asked to bring lawn chairs; however, some picnic tables are available. The Rice Homestead is now open every Wednesday and Saturday from noon until 4 pm for summer tours. In case of rain, the event will take place at the Mayfield Fireman’s Pavilion on School Street.
