The Rice Homestead will host a free “Loom Dressing” demo on Saturday, August 29th, from 9 am – 4 pm. Many people have wondered how all those threads get on the loom at the correct length, in the correct position for the job ahead, and without tangling. Loom dressing, or warping or loading the loom, only happens once at year at The Rice Homestead’s Loom Room. The 1779 hand built loom will be dressed by Libby VanNostrand and Arlene Rambush. People are encouraged to drop by for a visit to view the warping and take a free tour of the Homestead and grounds. A “Make Your Own Sundae” will be offered for $2.50 each.
