Micropolis Cooperative Art Gallery, Gloversville, NY, is pleased to announce that Stu Eichel, an oil painter, will be its guest artist for September and October. His show will include a number of recently completed paintings inspired by scenes in Gloversville.
Eichel stated, “My painting of the Glove Theater was done at least 15 years ago. I stood on the main street and was stunned that there was not another human being in sight. It was downright spooky. When I returned so many years later, I was really impressed with the turnaround. New businesses and many passers by. There is an excitement in the rejuvenation. I couldn’t get enough of painting there!”
“Every painting in my exhibition,” Eichel continued, “is how one artist chose to depict Gloversville. Rather than list the places I painted, I’d rather you see what I picked. Then you will partake in the same adventure that I did!”
Eichel, a resident of Saratoga Springs and member of The Oakroom Artists, Schenectady, has rediscovered Gloversville and will share his paintings with the community starting with an opening reception on Friday, September 9 between 5 and 7pm. The work of Micropolis member artists will also be on display. Artwork will include paintings, drawings, photographs, fiber art, batik, mixed media, woodwork, glass, digital art, sculpture, jewelry, and pottery.
The gallery is located at 30 N. Main St., Gloversville. And is open seven days a week. (MON-FRI 7am-7pm / SAT 8am-5pm / SUN 9am-4pm) The show will continue through October 31, 2016.
