A “Meet the Artists” reception will be held on Friday, May 5, between 5 and 7pm at Micropolis Cooperative Art Gallery. Featured guest artist will be basket maker Beverly Cornelius of Schenectady, NY.
Cornelius works in both ash and reed to create her baskets and is influenced by Native American and Shaker styles. She has been asked to design special items for the Beekmen Boys of Sharon Springs and also has baskets in the permanent collection at the Crandall Folklife Center in Glens Falls.
A new show of artwork by Micropolis member artists will also be on display in the gallery. Work will include paintings, drawings, photographs, fiber art, batik, mixed media, woodwork, glass, digital art, sculpture, jewelry, and pottery. The show will run through the end of June.
A member of Gloversville Community Music will entertain during the reception which is free and open to the public.
The gallery is located inside Mohawk Harvest Cooperative Market at 30 N. Main St., Gloversville, and is open seven days a week. (MON-FRI 8am-6pm / SAT 8am-5pm / SUN 9am-3pm)
