The Fulton County Historical Society and Fulton County Historian Samantha Hall-Saladino will present the final military program of the 2015 season. Events will get underway at 11:00 am when Harold Wilmot American Legion Post 137 Honor Guard raises the flag at Veterans’ Park, Kingsboro Ave. and East State St. in Gloversville. All programs following the Honor Guard ceremony will take place at the Fulton County Museum, 237 Kingsboro Ave. In the front yard of the Museum James Morrison, Gloversville City Historian has planned an event which will allow visitors to interact with representatives of the American War of Independence, the Civil War, World War 1 and World War 2. Inside the building the exhibit rooms will be open for viewing and there will be demonstrations and activities available to all ages. A trunk show is planned and those who are interested will be able to model vintage clothing from the collections, an area blacksmith will demonstrate his craft and there will be games and a musket drill. Leatherstocking Honor Flights will have a table with literature and tshirts and the Sweet Mama Mia food truck will be available for food and drinks.
At 2:00 pm the honored guest will be Joseph Bruchac the nationally known author story teller. Bruchac will treat his audience to a selection of stories which reflect his interest in Native American folk tales.
There is no admission charge but donations are welcome.
