The luck o’ the Irish comes to Gloversville on Friday the 13th with a full evening of family-friendly entertainment at the Gloversville Senior Center. As an expansion of the center’s monthly themed concert, the “Celt-ebration” will include an audience-participation telling of “Stone Irish Stew” at 4:30 p.m. Participants are asked to contribute a carrot, potato, cabbage or onion for the story’s stew, which will be donated to a local soup kitchen. A Chicken & Irish Dumplings Dinner for $3 will be served from 5:30 p.m. till supplies run out, and area musician Gary Van Slyke will entertain with Irish tunes and lore at 6 p.m. The Iona Troupe Irish Dancers from Schoharie County will perform at 7:15 p.m and teach the audience steps for an Irish “cieli” at the conclusion of their set. Cheryl Bielli of Mrs. B’s Petite Galerie & Studio in Gloversville will close out the evening’s entertainment with a guided painting of an Irish Cottage from 8 to 9 p.m. A $4 materials fee will be charged for painting supplies.
