Every year, on the Sunday before Labor Day, people light bonfires around the lake as a close to the summer season. Sport Island Pub and Restaurant in Northville also joins in with a fireworks display and an enormous bonfire. This tradition is considered the last hurrah of summer on the Great Sacandaga Lake.
