Come celebrate the improvements made to The Glove Theatre’s historic Marquée! Local officials, Board Members, and community members will be giving commemorative speeches and refreshments will be available at our historic Concessions Stand.
The Glove Theatre will host a re-lighting ceremony to celebrate the latest upgrades to its iconic marquee on December 3rd at 4:30 PM, directly before the City’s annual Holiday Parade.
“Our marquee is not only a historic identifier for the Theatre, but also the City of Gloversville and Fulton County,” says Board President James Hannahs. “We are thrilled to finally showcase these long-awaited repairs to let our community know that we are open and active.”
Recent repairs to the marquee include new LED lighting blankets on the outside panels as well as a re-wired grid on the underside of the structure itself. New, high-efficiency Edison-style light bulbs have also been installed, allowing the Theatre to illuminate its front walk, thereby improving public safety measures.
Historic improvement efforts have been ongoing since the Theatre’s reopening in 1995. Most notable façade improvements took place in 2018, following generous donations from the St. Thomas Foundation and Gloversville High School Class of 1967. Shortly after, however, the marquee suffered structural damage resulting from a truck collision. In addition to those donations, the Theatre’s 2019 Capital Campaign raised additional funds for repairs and upgraded electrical work. The latest improvements were executed by Fulton County Electric, completing weeks of work.
“While the marquee still needs some cosmetic improvements, we are considering these upgrades as a monumental step towards its final outcome,” continues Hannahs. “We owe it to our donors and the community to show our ongoing improvements.”
The ceremony will take place under the marquee featuring brief remarks from Board members and elected officials. The Theatre will also be used as a warming station for the Holiday parade, offering complimentary refreshments following the ceremony.

After the excitement of Christmas is over, are you left with some kiddos who are already bored on vacation? Send them to us and we will be sure to entertain them! Campers will get to choose from making their very own stuffed snowmen to take home (they won’t melt – promise!), snowman bowling or creating their very own soup to chase the winter blues away. We are even inviting some of our favorite summer instructors back for some more beauty school lessons and New Year’s Eve party planning projects! We will have a little bit of everything for your camper to choose from.

Openings in the Nigra Arts Center Kids Camps are very limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, to download parent information packet/camper paperwork and to register, please visit www.pncreativeartscenter.org/camps, call (518) 661-9932 or email Maria Nestle at nestlem@thearclexington.org. Camps will take place at the Nigra Arts Center’s facility at 2736 State Highway 30, Gloversville, NY.
