    April 17th, 6pm
    $5 donation
Beginning in 1949, the federal government provided grants and loans to cities through the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to fund urban renewal projects. This process involved the seizure and demolition of property in an effort to improve infrastructure and modernize cities. In reality, this often meant the destruction of historic structures, and disproportionately affected low-income communities and small businesses. The Empire State Plaza in Albany is perhaps one of the state’s most well-known urban renewal projects, spearheaded by Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller. But smaller cities, like Gloversville, also undertook these projects, for better or for worse.
Utilizing newspaper archives, city records, and other resources, explore the history of Gloversville’s urban renewal projects, from the proposed Midtown Park to the never-completed “ring road.” Learn how these efforts affected the community and take a tour through photos to see just what has changed downtown.
Fulton County Historical Society programs are made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.

Join Tricia and Nacole for an evening of gentle yin yoga while being bathed in the soothing sounds of the singing bowls. Inviting space and peace into your being. This will be a 90 minute Yin class.
Yin is a passive practice, often called the “fountain of youth yoga”. Poses will be held low to the earth for a few minutes to tap into the deep layers of connective tissues and joints, helping release tension in these places. Tricia will guide you through various Yin poses, intended to relax the body and mind while throughout this class, Nacole will be playing the singing bowls to bring healing and a heightened sensory experience to the practice followed by an extended savanna to the singing bowls.
    Self investment $30

  • ThursdayAug 1st 12:00:amNYS Hall of Fame 12U Tournament at Parkhurst Field
As pitchers and catchers report (on my birthday) it makes everything seem brighter, more optimistic. I await the new season with renewed affection for the game. Soon the youngsters will be practicing for little league.
Working with Dave Karpinski of Parkhurst Field, directly across the street from the NYS New York State Baseball Hall of Fame, we will be hosting 4 tournaments this August , ages 10-12. If you have a team that you would like to enter, contact Dave or myself.
Its similar to the COOPERSTOWN DREAMS PARK experience.
Its all bout the kids. Lets make memories for them. Parkhurst Field is beautiful. Its like a Major League Park for Little Leaguers.
Bringing baseball to youngsters, teaching them the love of the game is one of the best gifts you can give a child. Its an experience they will always treasure.
