Info Cayadutta Crawl Music Festival 11:00 AM– 09:00 PM
Where: Johnstown
Three community organizations have partnered to present The Cayadutta Crawl Music Festival on Aug. 20, featuring bands and solo artists from around the local area, the Capital Region and beyond.
There will be no admission charge for this event. Hosted by the Fulton County Center for Regional Growth, the Glove Cities Arts Alliance and Johnstown Arts & Music, The Cayadutta Crawl will be offered in lieu of the FJ&G ThoroughFair, which has been postponed till 2023 due to logistical obstacles.
“We wanted to salvage the best elements of the original ThoroughFair plan and still offer a great lineup of music for the community,” said Bill Ackerbauer, local musician and founder of Johnstown Arts & Music. “The Cayadutta Crawl will feature terrific bands such as the North & South Dakotas and The Durham County Poets, who are a Canadian blues band currently on tour in the Northeast United States.”
The event will take place from 11 a.m. till dusk on Aug. 20 with music on two stages in Johnstown — the Washington Street gazebo and the Fairgrounds Park gazebo at North Perry Street and Maplewood Avenue.
Saratoga Arts has agreed to allow community grant funds originally awarded for the ThoroughFair to be diverted to The Cayadutta Crawl.
The music lineup for the event will be as follows:
Washington Street gazebo stage
12-12:50 p.m. – Mike Gowans
1-1:50 p.m.- Mohawk Valley Fiddlers
2-2:50 p.m. – Tim Vee
3-3:50 p.m. – Rusticator
4-4:50 p.m. – The Insolent Willies
5-5:50 p.m.- North & South Dakotas
6-8 p.m. – The Durham County Poets
Fairgrounds Park gazebo stage
11-11:50 p.m. – Dream Catchers
12-12:50 p.m. – Kyle Rix
1-2:45 p.m. – Rick Bedrosian
3-2:50 p.m. – Luke Janetsky
4-4:50 p.m. – Frog Soup
5-7 p.m. – The Whinin’ Boys
Master Balloon Artist Daryl Baldwin will be on hand making balloon creations for attendees, and food and non-alcoholic beverages will be sold by El Celito Mexican Food Truck and North Star Café.
The Glove Cities Arts Alliance has recruited local visual artists to sketch portraits of attendees during the event. A limited number of portraits will be done; participants are encouraged to tip the artists. Artists will be set up at a table at the Washington Street park.
Organizations such as the Glove Cities Arts Alliance and the Mohawk Harvest Cooperative Market will staff information tables during the festival.
Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and/or stroll back and forth between the two gazebo locations using the section of the FJ&G Rail Trail that connects them.
“These two gazebos and the parks around them are little gems of public green space in Johnstown,” Ackerbauer said. “We selected these sites for The Cayadutta Crawl’s stages because they are an underappreciated resource and they happen to be connected by a section of the rail trail, so people can move between them with limited exposure to vehicular traffic.”
Saratoga Arts made this program possible through the Community Arts Regrant Program, funded by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
