Hotel Broadalbin

This historic building, generally known as the Broadalbin Hotel, started as a glove shop in 1854. Some years later it was enlarged and converted to an inn and restaurant. It was used by Dr. H.C. Finch in the summer of 1898 as a sanitarium and was later, once again, converted into a hotel. In earlier times, a popular automobile trip included a stop at the Italian Gardens at “Miss Kitty” Husted’s estate and then the Broadalbin Hotel for dinner. Many vintage postcards can be found that exhibit the elegance of this imposing building. One can notice the circular remnant of the rooftop bandstand. The structure is difficult to miss when you enter the village from the west on West Main Street. Today it operates as the 1854 Pub and Eatery.
