Johnson Hall was completed and occupied by Sir William Johnson in 1762.  The site he chose to erect his final home (1763-1774) was near a confluence of several Indian trails and nearby water sources allowed for the development of a town and industry.  The Battle of Johnstown took place on adjacent land in 1781.  This site is open for viewing May-October, 9am-5pm daily except Tuesday.

Marker location: Follow West State Street out of Johnstown.  Turn from West State onto Hall Avenue at the traffic light.  Follow Hall Avenue to the end.  This marker is located on the east side of West State Street past the Hall Avenue turn.  Marker erected 1932.
