With 44 lakes and 74,832 acres of wild forest, Fulton County is where to plan your sportsman adventure. Local amenities supporting the sport like the Wildlife Sports & Educational Museum, fishing charters, bait shops, outdoor supplies, gun and tackle.

Renowned Fishing in Fulton County

Lakes are situated in the southern Adirondack Park. The largest is the Great Sacandaga Lake, known for consistent year-round fishing and is the holder of the world record northern pike prowess (52.5”/46 lbs. 2 oz.)

East/West Caroga, Canada, Pecks, and Mayfield Lakes all host fishing tournaments summer and winter. Great Sacandaga Lake Walleye Challenge, Food & Fuel and Caroga Lakeview Store’s 3-day fishing tournaments, Great Sacandaga Lake Fisheries Federation (GSLFF)spring/summer/winter and kids derby’s.

Indigenous to these lakes are: northern pike, walleye, rock bass, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, black crappie, chain pickerel, brown bullhead, yellow perch, pumpkinseed, brown and rainbow trout.

The Great Sacandaga Lake stretches over 29 miles and varies in depth up to 70’ with Northern Pike (world record 52.5” in 1940), walleye, bass, brown and rainbow trout along with various panfish species.

Caroga Lake with a mean depth of 13’ provides anglers a chance to catch trout and warm water game fish. Trolling flashy artificials in the evening offers a good chance to catch these fish! Both lakes have easy access from NYSDEC Boat Launches.

Canada Lake is deep (70’) and provides colder water for species such as trout to survive, access from West Lake Road Parking Area.

Peck’s Lake, Town of Bleecker, averaging 14’ deep with a variety of fish including include bass, pickerel and sunfish.
